Virtus Diagnostics is part of Virtus Health one of the most successful medical collaborations of its kind globally. Our heritage is in assisted reproductive services as the leading provider of fertility treatments in Australia and Ireland with a growing Asian presence from our Singapore clinic. Our business has grown through diversification based on services to support our core patients, hence the development of Virtus network of day hospitals and the fastest growing division of Specialist Diagnostics.

Specialist Pathology Services
Virtus Diagnostics has over 20 andrology laboratories staffed by highly skilled andrologists for the purpose of specialised semen analysis. Analysis is performed to a globally recognised standard. In addition to sperm count, motility and morphology, some of the specialised investigations and techniques we perform include Sperm Chromatin Structure Assay (SCSA) / Sperm DNA Fragmentation, Sperm Antibodies and Sperm Aneuploidy by FISH.
We can also analyse samples for post vasectomy and infection.
Additionally, in partnership with our fertility clinics we offer sperm freezing for use with fertility treatment or for the preservation of a man’s future fertility.
The use of genetics in medicine is gaining momentum and Virtus Diagnostics is at the forefront, using the very latest technology in infertility and pre-diagnosis of inherited disorders as well as in the diagnosis of medical conditions and cancers.
You may suspect you are a carrier of a genetic condition due to a history of a particular disease in your family, or you may be experiencing infertility which may place you in a higher risk category. Or perhaps you are simply planning for the future and wish to check the carrier status or yourself and your partner. In any of these cases, Virtus Diagnostics can help.
Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) is offered for individuals or couples with a known genetic condition and Pre-implantation Genetic Screening (PGS) for couples experiencing repeated implantation failure – in relation to failed IVF cycles or recurrent miscarriage. Both services are available through Virtus Diagnostics, using the very latest technologies including Karyomapping and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).
Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is a growing area of diagnostics, where pregnant women can find out very early if their unborn baby has one or more common chromosome conditions (for example, Down syndrome) from 9 weeks.
Virtus Diagnostics facilities* and services are accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA).
All laboratory processes are also compliant with ISO 9001:2008. Virtus is proud of our culture of quality and continuous improvement.
